Argon in the Atmosphere in Columbus

We are well aware that the air on Earth is comprised of multiple gases, oxygen and nitrogen being the two main gases. Yet Argon is another gas that although does not have as high of a concentration in the atmosphere, has shown itself to be just as important throughout numerous industries.

Argon is an inert, neutral and odorless gas that only makes up about 1% of the Earth’s atmosphere. Although this gas is limited in quantity, it is consumed throughout various trades. In museums, Argon has traditionally been used for historic preservation. Historically meaningful documents, like the Declaration of Independence and the Magna Carta, are conserved using Argon. Unlike Oxygen, Argon does not decay the paper or ink of these, especially delicate records. Argon is also used as a gas shield in the welding industry for arc welding.

Given the many uses for this gas, there remains a regular demand for the gas. For this reason, specialty gases like Argon are usually sold in smaller capacities and cylinders.

PurityPlus offers only the purest of Argon and an array of other specialty gases. Visit our contact us page to learn more on the specialty gases we provide in Columbus.
